How to use it
- 1Enter your monthly message volumes: marketing, utility, and service replies (the free-form messages your team, bot or AI sends inside the 24-hour window).
- 2Enter your market's rates from Meta's official rate card — the fields are pre-filled with example rates, so replace them with your market's real numbers (find them via our Meta rates page).
- 3Read your estimated monthly total, see how much of the free service allowance you use, and drag the optimization slider to see what cutting reply volume saves.
What changes in October 2026?
From October 1, 2026, Meta charges for service messages — every free-form reply inside the 24-hour customer service window — after the first 1,000 per business phone number each month, billed at your market's utility rate. Utility templates sent inside an open window are billed too. That means chatty workflows and fragmented bot replies now show up directly on your invoice, and messages-per-conversation becomes a cost KPI. This calculator models that: it applies your rates to your volumes, subtracts the free allowance, and shows the effect of sending fewer, richer messages.
Calculator questions
How accurate is this WhatsApp cost calculator?+
It's an estimate. Meta bills actual rates by market and volume tier, and rates change — always verify against Meta's official rate card. The math itself follows Meta's announced October 2026 model: per-delivered-message pricing with 1,000 free service messages per number monthly.
What counts as a service message?+
Any free-form (non-template) reply sent inside the open 24-hour customer service window — whether a human, a workflow or a third-party AI sends it. From October 1, 2026 these bill at your market's utility rate after the free allowance.
Which currency does the calculator use?+
Whatever currency you enter rates in — the outputs simply follow your inputs. Meta's rate cards are published in USD.
How do I actually reduce the estimate?+
Fewer messages per conversation: merge greeting and menu into one list message, answer completely in one reply instead of fragments, and confirm orders in a single message. Our flow-by-flow playbook covers each redesign, and WABPO's engineers review high-volume customers' flows on request.
